Common questions
Are the applicant profiles real?
Yes. All profiles in IvyGuessr are drawn from applicants who voluntarily shared their results publicly on forums like Reddit, College Confidential, and similar platforms. We have anonymized every identifying detail — names, locations, specific schools attended, and any other information that could identify an individual. The outcomes (accepted, rejected, or waitlisted) are accurate as reported by the applicants themselves.
Is IvyGuessr affiliated with any of the universities in the game?
No. IvyGuessr has no affiliation with Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, Stanford, Columbia, the University of Pennsylvania, Brown, or any other institution featured in the game. All trademarks and names belong to their respective owners. IvyGuessr uses these names only for the purpose of educational reference.
Can I submit my own admissions profile?
Yes, and we encourage it. If you've applied to one of the schools in our game and are willing to share your profile anonymously, please email us at profiles@ivyguessr.com. We'll ask you to fill out a standardized template, and your identity will never appear anywhere on the site. Submissions from all outcome categories — accepted, rejected, and waitlisted — are valuable.
How do you decide which profiles to include?
We look for profiles that create genuinely instructive matchups — pairs where the outcome is surprising or illuminating, rather than obvious. We also aim to represent a diverse range of backgrounds, demographics, intended majors, and application years. Not every submitted profile will be included, but we review all of them carefully.
The game shows ads. Why?
IvyGuessr is a free resource, and advertising helps us keep it that way. We use Google AdSense to display relevant, non-intrusive ads. We've placed ads in locations that don't interfere with gameplay. For more information, see our Privacy Policy.
I think a profile contains an error. How do I report it?
Please email hello@ivyguessr.com with the school name, a description of the profile in question, and the specific error you've noticed. We take accuracy seriously and will investigate promptly.
